Belated May Update

Hi Folks

How are you on this gloriously sunny day.  Hope you're busy reading or writing.

Me?

Well I'm behind on both.

I'm still reading Legend of Deathwalker by David Gemmell which I started in March although nearly finished.
Then I've got over 200 books on my TBR pile to get through.  Hopefully before i snuff it.

Writing wise I've hardly done any, other than a few blog posts on my phone or tablet.  My poor laptop is sitting gathering dust and I just need to write instead of just thinking about it.
I've still loads of ideas in my head and on paper but going to try finish the ghost story I started and the first draft of Colony X by November.
Does anyone want to read an extract of it?

Otherwise my other objectives are to get fit.  I've joined the local gym.
Plus try not to over spend.

So what are you reading or writing.
Let me know in the comments.

Peace!

Neil

Shazam - Film Review

Hi guys

Just a quick film review of Shazam.  It's a fun yet simple Superhero film made for laughs but also has action and some drama.

When Billy Batson loses his mother as a toddler he is passed through different foster homes as he keeps running away from home.
He gets put in his new foster home run by the Vasquez family who already have a few foster children.  Most notable is Freddie Freeman who is disabled and a Superhero geek.

When Billy rescues Freddie from bullies he is chosen by an ancient wizard called Shazam who has the power of the Gods but is old and needs to pass them on to someone worthy.
When Billy says his name - Shazam - he's turned into an adult Superhero played by an excellent Zachary Levi who brings an innocence to his role as he's playing a boy trapped in a man's body.

It is essentially the film Big but with super powers.   They even make nods to that film.  Shazam along with Freddie test what powers he has in some hilarious set ups.

In pursuit of the same power is Dr Sivana played by Mark Strong.  A prologue shows that before Billy he was chosen by the Ancient wizard but gave into temptation by the Seven deadly sins who are demons in this film and help him with his goal.

Overall  -  The film has some great moments and mainly played for laughs but I hope the ending isn't permanent whereby Shazam shares his powers with the rest of the kids in his foster home as any sequel will be overcrowded and hope it's just temporary.
Although I am looking forward to a sequel.

Also look out for a cameo from another DC superhero.
