Inside Out 2 - Film Review

Hi Nerds

Over the weekend I took my daughter to see Inside Out 2.

The first movie came out in 2015 - nearly 10 years ago.  Another example of how time flies.  My daughter was 6 years old.  Now 16 will she like the sequel as much?

The answer was yes.  Mainly because the main human character Riley is relatable to her going through her teen years.  The whole friendship and acceptance and anxiety teen girls go through and of course puberty.  It's quite a grown up topic for the younger audience.

This time the emotions in Riley's head, Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust are joined by new emotions as Riley hits her teens and puberty.  These include Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment and Ennui.

Anxiety takes over trying to get Riley to meet new friends and get on a high school hockey team.  This means Anxiety clashes with Joy and the original emotions who get carted away to the back of Riley's mind.  Will they make it back before Anxiety totally changes Riley's personality for the worse.

Overall - the animation looks much better in this film than the first one.  Again the voice cast do a great job including the new cast of emotions.  One issue I have is that some of the plot is similar to the first film where the emotions are taken out of the control room and have to get back to control.

Reading Update - Reading two books at the same time!

Hey Book Worms

Just a quick update on my reading progress.

As you may recall I am doing the 24 books in 2024 challenge and very much behind.

I'm currently reading Guard's Guard's by Terry Pratchett and haven't far to go on it.

I'm enjoying it a lot but can be difficult to read in parts.

Currently at work it's quiet and we have a book shelf so you can pick a book and that helps with mental health.

I picked up 77 Shadow Street by Dean Koontz and I'm hooked.  It's creepy with great writing.

So that's how I'm reading two books at the same time.  Something I usually wouldn't do as I like to read a story at a time.

I was going to take Guards Guards to work but I'm anally fussy about getting my books damaged.

This means the 24 books in 2024 challenge is messed up unless I add the Dean Koontz book to it.

I am thinking of changing it at Christmas time for a writer friend who has a Christmas themed book out.  Will add more about this soon.

Happy Reading!

June 2024 Update

Hi Guys and Gals

A brief June update.  We are already half way through 2024!  These years keep going by faster and faster.

This is another quick update.

Reading and Writing -  I'm still reading Guard's Guard's by Terry Pratchett. Very behind in my reading goal for this year and my 24 books read in 2024 challenge. It means I'll have to read 21 books in just 6 months.  Can it be done?

Still a no show on the writing front, as I've been tired after work.  I will slowly build up my writing with my upcoming posts on Warhammer and Titan books.  They should bring back my writing mojo.

Other and Brighouse 1940s Weekend -

As you can see from the photos on this blog, there is an old school 1940s vibe.  I went to Brighouse with my Mum and Daughter to the yearly 1940s event.  It was better than the last couple of years after COVID,  with a lot more going on and more stalls.  It was also heaving and very busy.

They even destroyed the old Wilko's to make it look like the blitz.

It was a good day out, although I think I got sun stroke as I've felt shocking since.  Saturday and Sunday had chills and the shakes.

Well chat later folks!
