Hey Folks
At the weekend had a trip to the quite famous town of Holmfirth.
Most famous for being the setting for the long running BBC sitcom Last of the Summer Wine. A sitcom I enjoyed as a youngster, which followed the adventures of our retired heroes, Foggy, Cleggy and Compo.
Holmfirth seems to have more shops, cafes and pubs since I last visited when I was about ten years old.
It seems like Huddersfield's version of Hebden Bridge.
Went to the Elephant and Castle pub for a great pint of Coors and a hanging kebab.
Visited Read. A quaint book shop. It was a stark contrast to the old book shop I had been to earlier in the day.
Visited Daisy Lane Books. A very old and cobwebbed book store, which I'm sure was owned by a wizard and his cats.
It seemed older than the old book shops I usually visit in York. Sadly I didn't find a book I needed.
Went to look at Sids Cafe, which was in most of the Last of the Summer Wine episodes.
It was an enjoyable day out with good company. Hope to visit again soon.
