Daisy - Halloween Story

Well below is the Halloween story I had read out at the Writers Group and it was actually for someone else for a competition at work - which won - nice bag of sweets is a start - lol
Hopefully you will see an improvement from Bloody Sunday - will be posting my next short story which I wrote after Bloody Sunday soon - keep em peeled and enjoy . . . .

Daisy

Daisy didn’t believe in ghosts!  Well that’s what she told herself as she sat huddled in a tattered duvet looking around the big dusty old room.
It wasn’t like she had seen or heard anything it was just an eerie presence she felt, her skin was cold as if she had stepped outside on a frosty morning.

Your being silly she told herself, your twelve now too big for all this scared silly nonsense.
She realised it was a bad decision accepting a sleepover from her Aunt Cassandra, but she hadn’t seen her since she was a toddler.  If it wasn’t for her Aunt calling her over in town she wouldn’t have recognised her.

Well here she was sat up in bed twiddling her long blond hair.
She suddenly felt drained like she had just finished a school race.

Better text Mum again she thought.  She had been trying to get hold of her all night but either the calls were unanswered or there was no signal.  She wanted to let her know where she was.

Mum did u get voicemail met Aunt Cassandra staying at hers over nite
luv u x d

Daisy put her phone next to her in bed in case Mum returned her call!
She started to doze off her eyes shutting!

Bang, bang, bang!
Daisy shot up awake there was banging on all sides of the room.
She peered into the darkness and a shadow of what looked like a man was by the bottom of the bed. She screamed.

Daisy ran, out the door and down the stairs to the front door – as she unlocked it and stepped out something grabbed her arm but she daren’t look back.
Outside she saw her Aunt by the gate.

She thought it odd that she was there but relived to see her.
“Something inside – ghost” she screamed.  Tears running down her cheeks.

“It’s ok your fine with me” replied her Aunt.

As they walked back inside Daisy’s mobile vibrated – she read the message from her mum.

Stop playing games Daisy – your Aunt Cassandra died six years ago.
