Sonic the Hedgehog - Film Review
Hi guys
Yesterday went to see the new Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Based on the popular 80s and 90s Sega video games, which happens to be one of my favourites as they are fairly easy and simple games to play.
The film is similar as its easy to watch and a simple plot film starting with a great CGI world where Sonic lives spinning around, just like watching the game.
Sonic goes to his mentor Longclaw the Owl who tells Sonic to hide his powers. Bad guys attack (probably find out more about these in a sequel), and Longclaw gives Sonic teleporting Rings to hide in another world which takes Sonic to Earth.
Ten years later Sonic has lived in a cave reading Flash comics. Talking to himself and watching speedcop Tom (played by James Marsden - X men) and his family.
Then one night feeling upset and alone Sonic accidentally releases his Sonic Boom which shuts off all electricity in the State.
This brings him to the attention of the Military and in the crosshairs of Dr Robotnik (played by a crazy Jim Carrey).
A pursuit ensues to San Francisco where Sonic has lost his Rings and to escape the clutches and machines of Dr Robotnik.
Overall - A solid Videogame to Film conversion and probably the best as it hardly changes anything. It does start off slow for a film about a super fast hedgehog but once Dr Robotnik arrives the action speeds up. Although I thought we'd see more from Jim Carrey.
But with excellent CGI and good performances from all cast it is worth a watch (or two).
Score - 8/10 - good film sets up a sequel.

Feb Book Haul and Valentine's day in York
Had a small book haul in February.
Firstly I bought The Other People by C J Tudor for my Mum for mother's day.
I bought myself Bone Silence by Alastair Reynolds the third and hopefully last in the Revenger series as they are huge books.
For Valentine's day I got Alien - Out of the Shadows by Tim Lebbon.
I also got some other great gifts for Valentine's including Optimus Prime 35th anniversary edition.
Me and the GF also had a great time in York where again I loved going to Waterstones.
Coming soon - my Favourite Waterstones and Who I'd love to write for!

Feb 2020 Update
Hi Peeps
How is everyone?
This is just a quick update on what I want to achieve in Feb 2020.
With it being a short month I'm wanting to start writing again. Was meant to start in January but was busy plus tired so Feb is the time to open my laptop and type!
Reading wise I want to finish David Gemmell "Hero in the Shadows" by 13th Feb as that will be the 2 month mark of reading it as started way back on December 13th.
I also want to read another book in Feb or read most of one and start speeding up.
Want to try blog more than twice this month with a few ideas in mind so look out for that.
If that's not enough going to start gym again this month.
Well no other news - may have a Feb book haul soon.
Keep safe and Keep Reading!
Neil x
