2025 Book Shelves Tour - Part 4

Book Case 4

Welcome Book Lovers!

This is the last book case I have (for now).  I'm running out of space in my flat for any more book cases and all 4 book cases are filling up fast!  Maybe I should read some books before buying more?

I've had this book case for about 2 years and it has the least amount of books.

Shelf 1

This shelf holds my Anna Smith Spark books and Empire of the Vampire novels, with space for the third in the trilogy.  It also holds my Nicolas Eames and signed Joanne Harris.

Shelf 2

Shelf 2 holds my horror novels which includes King, Sarah Pinborough and horror collection edited by Mark Morris.  Both books are from Edge-lit. It also holds a Stephen Graham Jones trilogy and 2 standalone novels.

Shelf 3

Shelf 3 holds my small publisher and self published books.  Mostly from writers I've met and friends with, mainly from Edge-lit and Cleckheaton Writing Group.
These include Nick Stead, Duncan Bradshaw, Paula Readman, Simon Fairbanks, Robin Trigg, Ian C Douglas and Karen Naylor.

Shelf 4

Shelf 4 is mainly sci-fi with Transformers novels and a couple of Star Wars, plus some standalones. It also has CJ Tudor and one of the first books I've ever bought - The Crystal Shard - which I bought 30 years ago (still to read - eek).

Shelf 5

Shelf 5 holds my Terry Pratchett trilogy's which I bought years ago from Fantasy and Sci-fi book club.  It also has a few self published books and a free romance book which I'll probably unhaul.

Hopefully you enjoyed all 4 parts of my 2025 book tour.
Happy reading!

2025 Book Shelves Tour - Part 3

Book Case 3

Welcome Nerds!

This is the third book case I own.  I bought it as the first two book cases were getting full and I've had it about 4 or 5 years now.  It's a smaller book case and the shelves aren't deep so this book case filled quickly.

Top of Book Case

On top holds my Alexa and my Optimus Prime and Megatron.

Shelf 1

Shelf 1 holds my Witcher collection I've still to read and Sci-fi novels including many Titan books Aliens and Predator novels and short stories. It also holds some classic HG Wells and signed Justina Robson.

Shelf 2

Shelf 2 is a mix bag but holds my Bernard Cornwall Arthur series, Scott Lynch books with some sci-fi included. Plus it holds my Andy Remic books who I met at my first Edge-lit and wanted to review them before he passed away.

Shelf 3

Shelf 3 is another mix from a DC superhero collection to Andy Mcnab, Adrian Tchaikovsky and a Mistborn collection.  All still to read.

Hope you enjoyed looking at book case number 3.  The sad thing is I've not read one book on this case so need to increase my reading.

2025 Book Shelves Tour - Part 2

Book Case 2

Hi Book Nerds!

Here's the second part of my book shelve tour.  I've had book case number 2 for almost 9 years as an ex girlfriend gifted it for my 40th birthday.

Book Case number 2 also has the most books and the books are double stacked on the top 2 shelves.

Top of Case

On the top of the book case I keep my Harry Potter collection - 3 books are missing.  There are also books I have bought at library sales.

Shelf 1

The front of shelf 1 has my John Gwynne collection.  Read the first 4 novels and to read the other 2 series he has written. It's also got my RJ Barker novels which are still to be read.

Shelf 1.2

At the back of shelf 1 I have a mix of books.  This includes a James Bond collection, horror and mainly crime like Helen Cadbury and Leigh Russell.

Shelf 2

At the front of Shelf 2 I have my Joe Abercrombie collection and Alastair Reynolds. Plus my Warhammer 40,000 collection which I bought monthly a few years ago when the Legend editions came out in newsagents.

Part of my Warhammer 40,000 collection on shelf 2.

Shelf 2.2

At the back of shelf 2 I have my George RR Martin collection including Of Fire and Ice series.  Haven't read any yet but I'm put off as it might never be finished. I also have my Bourne collection.  I need to read these also.

Shelf 3

Shelf 3 holds my graphic novels.  These include some Marvel and DC collections and my Transformers collection. Plus some British Beano and Dandy annuals. Plus a novel called My Sucky by my writer friend Duncan Bradshaw.

That's my second book case.  I have another 2 book cases to show.  Will post those soon.
Hope you enjoyed seeing what I've on my case.  What books are on your shelves?

2025 Book Shelves Tour - Part 1

Book Case 1

Hello Bookworms!

As it's been 2 weeks since my last post, I thought I'd provide an updated Bookshelf Tour.
This will be in 4 parts and each part will highlight one of my book cases and the books on them.  Sadly I'm running out of space on all 4 book cases.

My first book case I've had the longest, from 1995. I've moved it 4 times so far to different houses so it's getting battered.

Shelf 1

The old copies of David Gemmell and Raymond E Feist are 30 years old. I haven't read the Krondor books yet by Feist!
Shelf 1.2

I've still to read the last 2 Drenai novels by David Gemmell and his Troy series including the signed Troy book.  Not sure when I'll continue with Terry Goodkind as the first dragged on and they are chunky!

Shelf 2

Read a few of Pratchett novels and want to continue the City Watch books. Read the old copies of David Eddings Belgariad series and hope to start the newer Mallereon series in 2026.

Shelf 2.2

A mixed bag of old books I haven't read like Dragonlance and Stephen Lawhead and my Giles Kristian books I want to start soon.

Shelf 3

Read quite a few here including my Lord of the Rings and Hobbit box set and a few Doctor Who novels in the box sets.

Read all 10 Doctor Who books in the set on the left and just 3 books from the set on the right.  Getting behind as I've usually read one Doctor Who book by this time of year.

Shelf 3.2

Some of my oldest books. I still haven't read the 10 book set of Sci-fi I got years and years ago from the Book People who came to my old work - are they still running?  Read a couple of the old books on the right including Adrian Edmondson book and Star Wars - Darth Maul.  Apologies for the dust and how the back is coming away from the rest of the case.

Hopefully you've enjoyed looking at my first book case.  A tour of my second book case will be soon......

April 2025 Update!

Greetings Nerds!

2025 looks set to go as fast as the last 2 years.  Into the fourth month already.

April is one of my favourite months as it usually gets sunnier and warmer and the cherry blossom comes out which I love.

March Review -

Sadly March was also a bad month emotionally as I said goodbye to my girlfriend Jane.  The ceremony and wake would have made her proud as she had a good send off and was packed which showed how popular she was.  RIP Jane x

Work wise I've still been off as my head still hasn't been right to deal with incoming calls and the call centre.

I haven't done any writing in March but did start reading again and getting far in Best Served Cold.

In April -

Hopefully go back to work in April and also keep my options open.

By the middle of April I hope to have finished Best Served Cold and started another book on my 25 books in 2025 which I can't see myself completing.

I'm going to get back into my writing this month and finish The Cubby Hole which will be dedicated to Jane.  I will also make notes on an Urban Explore horror I have in mind.

I will again look at an Open University course on editing/ copy writing as the new courses start in May and I'll never get a job in that sector and publishing if I don't do the qualifications.

Hopefully I will start the gym and swimming again in April and get in shape.

What are your plans in April?

Neil x
