Scarborough and Scarborough Waterstones

Hi Folks

The other weekend I took a surprise trip to Scarborough. This also meant I had to visit Scarborough Waterstones to tick it off my list of Waterstones to visit.  I'm trying to visit every Waterstones there is.

I had a great time in Scarborough as not been there since I was about 12 and hope to go back soon.

See some pictures from the trip.

Scarborough Waterstones wasn't one of the best I have visited.  It's quite small, similar to Huddersfield Waterstones, and with no cafe. There wasn't a big selection of books, especially in my favourite section - Sci-fi and Fantasy.  Also the entrance was covered in seagull crap.

Scarborough Waterstones score  6/10.

Look out for more bog content soon.

Edge-lit 9 - Part 2 - Book Hauls and Derby Waterstones

 Hi Book Lovers

This time last week I was in Derby for Edge-lit and obviously whilst there would get some new books.

I also returned to the lovely Waterstones in Derby, which has my second favourite interior after Bradford Waterstones.

In Waterstones I purchased the below books. I have been wanting Kings of the Wyld by Nicolas Eames for ages.  I also fancied some horror so loved the look of Ghost Hunter's by Neil Spring.  Plus the author has the same first name as me.

At Edge-lit itself I got Whirlwind Romance by Sam Thompson for free in the Edge-lit goodie bag.  I also bought at their Waterstones table two books by authors attending the event.
Shadow of the Sith by Adam Christopher and Dawn of the Jedi by Tim Lebbon.

Happy reading guys.

Sarah Pinborough and Tim Lebbon

Hi Folks

Had a wonderful time in Derby at Edge-lit, seeing old writing buddies and making new ones!

Even though on both the Friday and Saturday nights I drunk way too much.

Will try and do a part 2 where I go into some details of the panels.  Although going by my memory it might be tricky.

Jeremy Dyson and Johnny Mains

Lucy Holland and Catriona Ward

Tim Lebbon and Stephen Volk

Panel on landscapes in literature

Panel on Doctor Who and Audio adventures

July 2023 - Update

Welcome to July folks!

Another quick update as June went so fast.  Sadly not much reading or writing was done again!  Although I have been counting down to Edge-lit 9 in early July, in the hopes it will give me a reading and writing boost.

On the 1st of July I went to one of my favourite places to cheer me up and get me in the mood - Waterstones in Leeds.

My daughter and I enjoyed some cake.  Sadly there was no book buying as I'm saving that for Edge-lit on the 8th July.

So I've booked my Edge-lit ticket, hotel room and booked a coach to Derby and back.

I usually go by train but there are some strikes affecting services so played it save. Plus I'm determined to go as I've missed the last 4 years.

This year's Edge-lit highlights include horror authors Mark Morris and Tim Lebbon. League of Gentlemen writer Jeremy Dyson - the TV show not the film. Also The Prestige author Christopher Priest.

Others include fantasy author Lucy Holland, Star Wars writer Adam Christopher and fantasy author Ed McDonald among others.

As for the rest of July I'm hoping to read and write and get to the gym.
