Leeds Waterstones Book Haul

 Hi Folks!

Well after Covid I've finally made it back to my favourite Waterstones in Leeds.  It's like a second home to me.  I'm just hoping they start Author events again. Especially now Edge-Lit in Derby has finished.

When I was there, the Fantasy and Sci-fi section seemed bigger with more selection. The TV Tie-in novels now had their own section.

As always there was some lovely cake and coffee. Perfect seating to read or write.  Or watch other people writing.  It was full of people on laptops.  Maybe future authors?

The books I purchased I had been after a while. The Red Sister sequel - Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence and Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne.  A first in a new trilogy.

I've worked out as my shelf's are bulging with unread books and I'm running out of space. I'm only going to purchase 6 books which I need this year then stop for a long while.

The 6 books I need, are to complete series I've started collecting, are -

Third book in Joe Abercrombie's Age of Madness trilogy.

Holy Sister by Mark Lawrence.

Second and third books in John Gwynne's Bloodsworn series.

Second and third books in Bernard Cornwell's Arthur trilogy.

So just those 6 books then that's it.

Scottish Book Haul

 Hi Folks

Hope you're all well.

On my recent jaunt to Scotland over the New Year I managed to pick up a few books.

I've wanted Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero for a while so when I saw it in Stirling Waterstones I jumped at the chance.  Plus the other books on my wishlist weren't there.
I also bought in Stirling Waterstones, Aliens - Phalanx by Scott Sigler which will look good next to my Alien books.

Then I took a trip across the arcade to the Works and got the full Eragon series by Christopher Paolini.

Lastly back home in my local Tesco's I saw Bernard Cornwell's The Winter King.  The start to a series I want and was a bargain price so got that.

What new books have you got?

Waterstones Tour - Edinburgh and Stirling

Edinburgh Waterstones

Hi folks

As you know a goal I have in 2022 is to tour/visit as many UK Waterstones as possible. Money and Covid permitting.

I've had a good start to the year with hitting 2 in one weekend in Scotland.

Edinburgh Waterstones - I was quite exited by the exterior, plus it has 3 floors.  Once inside was gutted the cafe was shut.  Repairs I think.  Plus the Sci-fi and Fantasy section wasn't as big as I'd hoped with not great selection.

Edinburgh Waterstones Score -  6/10

Stirling Waterstones

Stirling Waterstones - Was a nice, smaller Waterstones in an arcade. It reminded me of the Huddersfield Waterstones.  With 2 floors but no cafe, it had a wider range of Sci-fi and Fantasy.  So purchased some books.

Stirling Waterstones Score. -  7/10

So which Waterstones shall I go to next?

Happy New Year - Scotland Trip

Hi folks

Happy New Year - here is to a better 2022!

I.m not making any resolutions this year, I'm just going to Do the things I need to and want. I'm definitely getting healthy and going to the gym - for health reasons.
I'm going to write and read more than last year for sure.
Anyway here's some pics of bonny Scotland I took whilst up there for New Year. Enjoy.
