Quick Update and Edge -Lit 11

Hey Nerds!

Just a really quick update as I've not posted for ages.

Here's a reminder for a great event that I try to get to each year in Derby at the Quad.

A fantastic place with friendly staff, it's a great opportunity to meet famous and not so famous writers.  From novel authors to script writers who have worked in film and TV.

Whether you're a writer or just a reader it's informative about the writing process, from listening to panels or attending workshops.

It's also a good place to meet new friends, go for drinks and buy new books.

I've already bought my tickets for this year's Edge-Lit plus paid my coach fare and accommodation.

Held on Saturday the 20th of September it's shaping up to be another great event with main guests announced.

First being Sci-fi author and TV writer Tim Lebbon. I've a few of his novels including an Alien book he wrote and hopefully will read one by September.

The same could be said for the second guest of honour, Sci-fi writer Peter F Hamilton.

I've already met Peter before at Leeds Waterstones so look forward to seeing him again and getting a photo with him this time.

Other authors lined up include Mark Morris, Sarah Pinborough, Dan Coxon and JS Barnes.

Hopefully will see familiar and new faces in Derby in September.
See below for the official Edge-Lit/Quad link.

Later.

Recent Book Haul!

Hi Book Nerds!

As I've not much to post at the moment I thought I'd post my recent book purchases.

Admittedly I didn't need them as I've about 200 books to read.  Plus I'm running out of shelf space fast!

I bought Alien: Colony War in Stratford Upon Avon at Waterstones.

I bought the new Lynda La Plante book for my Mum for her birthday in August but it was cheaper in Sainsbury's.

Lastly I bought Helen Cooper's My Darling Boy as I spotted it in The Works and I always try to support my writing friends.  Not sure when I'll get to it as I'm behind in my reading.  Hopefully I will see her at Edge-Lit, in September, in Derby.

That's All Folks!

June 2025 Update!

 Hey Nerds!

A quick update for you. Can't believe we're already half way through 2025 already!  Where has the time gone.

Got to admit 2025 so far hasn't been a good year with being stressed and the death of my girlfriend, plus job uncertainty but....

May Review -

May has by far been the best month of the year so far.

Firstly the weather was fantastic and being off work for most of it I had some great walks out.

Secondly I quit my job in call centre.  It was long overdue and I'd been off 3 times with stress and anxiety plus with Jane's death.

Luckily I got a temporary job at the end of May in Bradford doing back office admin which is what I like.  Hopefully it will be extended beyond July.

Thirdly I had a great weekend away with my daughter to Warwick Castle and Stratford Upon Avon.

Reading and writing wise I've not done much although I've almost finished Best Served Cold and so far really good.

In June -

Work wise I want to continue doing my best in the job I'm in and I think I prefer being paid weekly instead of monthly. Fingers crossed I stay.

I definitely want to get into my writing in June.  At least finish The Cubby Hole and make notes on other ideas.

This first week of June I will finish Best Served Cold and start a Doctor Who novel.

I want to get back to exercising more and healthier eating and trying to lose a stone or two.

I also hope to pay my hotel and ticket for Edge-Lit on September 20th too.

What will you be doing in June?
