Book Review - A Darkness at Sethanon by Raymond E Feist

At last I've finally finished the first trilogy in the Riftwar Saga!  It's only taken me about 20 years when wayback when I was 19 years old I bought the trilogy through Fantasy and Sci-fi book club.

An assassination attempt on Arutha,  Prince of Krondor starts the story set a year after the last book and leads to a path of destruction and confrontation with the all powerful demon and magician Murmandeous.  But is he a pawn in a bigger game?

Being the final book of a trilogy ADAS is action packed and follows multiple characters as they start to face their destiny.  It can get confusing at times.
The sections where a city is under siege are very good and reminded me of David Gemmells Legend.

The main problem with this book is that it is too long and the middle drags, particularly when the Magician Pug and Tomas are looking for the Sorceror Macros in the rift space.
These sections could have been shorter and because they aren't the final battles seemed rushed.

Overall - A very good finale to the Trilogy but could have had a trim.

Score    -     7/10
